Join local East Gippsland jewellery maker Jill Hermans in either of these fun weekends as she shares her renowned experience in working with the fascinating Japanese metal alloy that is Shibuichi.
Jill will demonstrate casting the copper/silver alloy (shibuichi) to produce sheet and wire, that you will then use to saw, file, fuse and reticulate (surface treatment to create texture) then colour as you make your own personal pair of earrings and more!
The workshops are suitable for jewellery making beginners and professionals alike.
For those of you looking for accommodation options we can highly recommend either Jetty Road Retreat or on airbnb a great little cottage as both are fantastic: clean, groovy and have stunning views of the lakes, islands and ocean. Best of all they are both only a short drive or walk from our studio.
Alternatively, if you feel like you really deserve to spoil yourself then head to Goldsmiths in the Forest for hosted accommodation featuring wonderful food and a beautiful, private rain-forest location that is only a short 15 minute drive through the Colquhoun forest away from oneofftwo.
And if your partner or family is lucky enough to be traveling with you then they will have plenty to occupy their time whilst you are busy in the workshop. Nungurner provides plenty of outdoorsy activities including fishing, swimming, sailing and kayaking on and in the lake. Bush-walking and mountain-biking in the nearby Colquhoun forest are really great and there are two other MTB parks, each less than an hour away. Surfing at Red Bluff near Lakes Entrance can be a hoot when the swell is up too - so pack your car with all the fun gear to enjoy a wonderful break!
The workshops will run 10 till 4 each day and will be for up to 6 participants.
Oneofftwo is a purpose built workshop with goldsmithing benches and tools, enameling kilns and equipment. You will of course be free to bring your own hand tools if you have them.
